The Loose Ends: Old and In The Way Edition

Well folks, that's it for another week. Typically Stan handles these duties, but he's off basking in the sun to celebrate his birthday. As of tomorrow, the two of us both hit the big 30. I'm sure anyone who has read this blog assumed we were about 19, but make no mistake, we are two old codgers now. In case anyone is wondering, turning 30 is in fact really weird, far weirder than I ever expected.

Anyway, who cares about that? Nobody. Good. Moving right along, big news rattled the blogosphere today as Yahoo! Sports has hired the one and only, Jamie Mottram away from the AOL FanHouse. Congrats to Jamie and we look forward to seeing how things progress as Yahoo! enters its hat into the competitive realm of the sports blog. I for one am very excited about that as Yahoo! Sports is a daily destination for me already. I think it's mainly because my fantasy leagues are there, but I think it is awesome that they are adding a blog element.

The highlight of the week for us was definitely a spectacular interview with Will Carroll over at EC from Baseball Prospectus, SI, Football Outsiders, ESPN, Rotowire, and every other sports medium under the sun (inclduding last year's Fantasy Show on ESPN2). The interview turned out great and were honored that he took the time to chat with us.

Other notables for the week included Stan's hit revisiting the debate of which USC running back is a better pro, Lendale or Reggie, and another Match.com Mondays episode with the one and only Colt Brennan.

It's a pretty decent day in college football today, but not the greatest. The games that are peaking our interest this today are MSU-Notre Dame, Michigan-Penn State, Kentucky-Arkansas. Stan's picks are in the post right below this one. I'd love to see Kentucky and Andre Woodson continue their run and knock off Arkansas and Notre Dame should get smoked again as the Spartans look decent this year.

Well that's it for the week. Happy New Year to all the Jews out there. Enjoy those bagels and phish salad today. See you Monday.
